To Whom it May Concern:

I have known Kevin Rumsey for 16 years on a professional and personal level, ever since he became a Schuyler County Sheriffs Deputy. I have worked side by side with him while working for the Sheriffs Department myself, as well as while I continue to work with NYS Courts as a Court Officer. Kevin Rumsey is an outstanding citizen that will stop to help anyone in need, not just because of the uniform he wears, but because that is who he is as a person. He is kind, empathetic, understanding, fair, just and a strong leader; someone to look up to.

I believe that these attributes that I have mentioned above, make Kevin a perfect and strong example of what the Conservative Party stands for - fair, just and equal representation as a public servant. I believe that his traditional military training make him an excellent candidate because of his love of country, justice and his support for our country and its Constitution.

To Whom is May Concern:

Kevin Rumsey, a Deputy Sheriff in Schuyler County, is running for Schuyler County Sheriff.  How fortunate we are to have this man of service and high moral stature in our community and answering the call to protect and serve Schuyler County as the Sheriff.

As a business owner in the community, it has been my pleasure to have Kevin Rumsey in my shop on several occasions in the past few years.  Since I have known Kevin, I have found him to be friendly, relatable, and of the finest character.  I have observed him as a father and coach at wrestling events and is clearly a superb role model for our youth.  His is always respectful and his values are that of a true conservative.  He is looked up to by his peers, and the incredible attendance by law enforcement at all levels at his announcement of candidacy is proof positive he is who the community wants in this position.

While Kevin Rumsey is running on the Republican Party, his traditional views, and ideas, I believe, are an excellent match for and more in line with the Conservative platform.  As a registered conservative, I will be supporting Kevin Rumsey for Sheriff, and the The Conservative Party of New York State should be proud to endorse Kevin.  He is exactly what the Conservative Party is looking for, professional, ethical, family oriented and a man of impeccable character, a rare gem in leadership today.

I’ve known Kevin Rumsey for almost 25 years. He has always been there for whatever we needed. He’s an amazing son, brother, husband, father, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. You can bet if you’re ever in need, he’ll be the first one to help!

Kevin is one of the most compassionate people I know and I am blessed to call him family! He goes above and beyond for anyone he meets, including strangers. He is dedicated to his family, his community and his career. Kevin has always set high standards for himself and has steadily and steadfastly worked hard to achieve his goals. Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to offer my fellow Conservatives my wholehearted recommendation that our party endorse Kevin P. Rumsey as a candidate for Schuyler County Sheriff.

I have known Kevin for years and he is exactly the kind of person we need as Sheriff. He is a dedicated family man, he is a military veteran and served four years in the United States Marine Corps, he has served our community as a volunteer firefighter for fifteen years, he has served our county in law enforcement for nearly twenty years, he has been a youth coach for football and wrestling for years, and he is on the school board at Watkins Glen Central School. Kevin's commitment to our community and to traditional American values is second to none.

Kevin is a strong believer in the Constitution of the United States and a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, as well as ALL of our Constitutional rights. I know that he will serve our county as a Sheriff who will make sure that the Constitution of the United States is supported and defended every day.

Thank you for your consideration.

I endorse Kevin Rumsey for Schuyler County Sheriff. I worked as a Deputy for the Sheriff’s Office for almost a year and during that time I worked directly with Kevin Rumsey in his Investigator role at the time. Kevin was an inspiration, he was a wealth of knowledge, and most importantly he was someone who cared about the public and the people he worked to protect.

Kevin is a family man, and along with his immediate family, he adopted the Sheriff’s Office as part of his family as well. Kevin treated his staff like brothers and sisters. He always looked out for everyone. Kevin is a leader, he has worked almost every position within the Department, and he has done so with humility, leadership, and dedication. Kevin will make an excellent Sheriff as he is always focused on the public and what he can do to better in his county.

As many of you know, Kevin Rumsey has been a parent, coach, and Vice President in the Schuyler County Youth Football program for many years. Kevin has been a huge asset to our program and we have truly valued his dedication to our youth and program. In January, Kevin announced he would be running for Sheriff of Schuyler County.

The Schuyler County Youth Football program is pleased and proud to support Kevin Rumsey for Sheriff. Please check out the Rumsey for Schuyler County Sheriff Facebook page and remember to vote in the primary in June.

Kevin, thank you for all your hard work and dedication to our program over the years. We look forward to continuing to see you in the sidelines and your boys in the field this fall. Good luck in the primary, we are all rooting for you!

We met Kevin Rumsey when I signed my son up for flag football. He was his coach! We learned during that first year of football that his son Isaac and my son Johnothan had the same birthdays (1yr apart) and same nut allergies! Isaac showed John the ropes of having the allergy and looked out for him in school.

Kevin has made a huge impact on my son in ways I didn't know adults could make on children's and the thoughts on their futures. My son wants to go into the marines and become a K9 officer like Kevin was or be a highway patrol officer! Kevin has been a coach to my son since flag football and has always rooted him and fellow playmates on. Kevin can be hurting after a day of work but you can always find him at every practice and games with a smile on his face. He taught my son to work through pain and never to give up.

I am eternally grateful to have such an awesome guy in our community and someone who puts everyone before himself.

I have known Kevin Rumsey almost all my life and feel he would make an excellent Sheriff for Schuyler County for many reasons. First and foremost, Kevin is a very devoted husband and family man. He volunteers as a coach with the teams that his sons participate in, such as Glen Grapplers and Schuyler County Youth Football. Additionally, Kevin is currently an elected member of the Watkins Glen School District Board of Education. Kevin goes above and beyond for all the kids in this community who are in need daily.

Recently, I saw someone wearing a shirt in support of Kevin. I overheard another person ask her why she would be supporting Kevin. Her response was simple, she said she knows his two sons and that they are great kids. She went on to say that he must be doing something correctly at home because you don’t get children like his without having a strong sense of values and clearly defined parenting. She added that she felt that she feels this was indicative of the way he will run the entire county. Which I agree with wholeheartedly.

I have heard several people in our county say that Kevin does not have the experience to run an entire county at this point in his career, and that Mr. Spaulding has been Undersheriff for so long he knows the ins and outs of the job. Yes, Undersheriff Spaulding has an advantage in that aspect of this election. However, how does a person obtain experience without being given an opportunity to show their capability? The reality is Kevin has the requisite skills required for this position. He has been in Law Enforcement for over 16 years, having been in several different positions across the Sheriff’s Department; a Deputy on Road Patrol, K9 officer, and has been promoted to Sergeant, then later to Investigator. This has allowed Kevin to gain valuable experience, as well as a perspective of how things run in each department and how they can be improved. Additionally, he has been in multiple leadership positions over the course of that time. He is the current President of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, the past President of the Road Patrol Association, and the current WGFD Assistant Company Foreman. I believe this experience and his military background will be assets for the position of Sheriff.

Investigator Rumsey is a very hardworking individual that would take pride in becoming the next Schuyler County Sheriff.  Please consider him when voting in the Republican Primary on June 22, and most importantly in the General Election in November.

Our family met Kevin when we first moved to this community almost 4 years ago. My oldest son was welcomed onto the Glen Grapplers Wrestling Team. Kevin was open-minded and helpful with Cyrus. He even offered to provide transportation for him, should he need it. I noticed he was always there to push the kids to be their best in a very positive manner.

I’ll always be grateful for the help and guidance he gives to the children. Additionally, I had the pleasure of working with Kevin on a tournament a couple years ago. He is hardworking and always willing to offer a helping hand. Kevin and his family are a blessing to this community. Please consider voting for him in the upcoming primary and in the general election.

I grew up with Kevin and have known him his whole life. I couldn't be more proud of the person he has become. Kevin is the kind of person everyone wants to know. He treats every person he meets with courtesy and respect. Kevin is kind and compassionate, and you can't meet a more genuine individual.

He was born and raised in Schuyler County and has dedicated his life to making it a better place to live and raise a family. Kevin is a natural leader as proven by the numerous community activities in which he is involved. These leadership skills would be invaluable to those he serves.

The list of ways that Kevin has given to the community, his county, and his country is endless but it is his integrity, compassion and his values that have made me respect him throughout our lives. Our community needs a person like Kevin Rumsey to lead the brave officers of the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department. I will be honored to be casting my vote for him.

Kevin P. Rumsey is a man of honor, integrity, and compassion. He has been an important part of my life from a very young age. He is a man that strives for perfection and believes in many important life lessons that he will use when he is elected Sheriff of Schuyler County. I know this because he is my husband, and I have had a front row seat watching him lead by example for years. Let me share with you some of the life lessons that Kevin has learned and that he uses daily in his own life.

1. Never say can’t and never give up. This is how he was raised. If you knew his father, you know the strength and perseverance that was needed to keep moving forward.

2. Don’t let anything hold you back. He has always taken pride in his work and wants his men and women to do the same. I have watched him help people of all ages. Whether it was a child at a sporting event, a deputy that he knows has the potential to be a great law enforcement officer or an elderly stranger needing assistance to change a tire on the side of the road.

3. Compassion, Resiliency, and Strength. In law enforcement, these individuals see things that we can’t even fathom. They go to bed every night with images of victims from fatal motor vehicle accidents. Images of suicide scenes. Images of babies that have drowned. Images of domestic violence. Images of individuals that did not survive an overdose, even after medical intervention. Images that could crush even the strongest people. This job requires a strong backbone. A solid foundation of values. A firm support system. We need our heroes to have someone they know they can go to get the support and reinforcement they need and deserve to serve our community. Kevin is that person. He has those skills. He has the desire to help his men and women to succeed.

4. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Kevin is a man that people trust. They call on him often and he never complains. He has never pushed anyone away. He never judges them. He is always willing to give his personal time to others to make a difference. Kevin doesn’t just look at one variable, he considers the whole situation when intervening on behalf of someone else. He looks below the surface. I have witnessed him interact with other for HOURS while at a store or while out in the community. People from all walks of life stop him to say hello. That includes people he has dealt with on the job. They respect him. Why would anyone respect someone who may have arrested them? I’ll tell you why. Kevin has always show respect to each individual when they have been at their worst and regardless of their actions. Because even at their worst he respected them. This was a value that he was taught at a young age and that was reinforced throughout his life. It is a value that we are teaching our children as well.

5. Lead by example. Take that extra step to help people. Kevin strives to be the best he can be every day and he will EXPECT that from his employees. That includes office workers, dispatchers, correction officers, deputies, and investigators. In the past several months he has spoken to a lot of people and the one statement I have heard him say repeatedly is “I am not out to reinvent the wheel, but to retread the tire.” He intends to make a good department better, and he will.

It has never been a secret that my husband has wanted to be Sheriff since he started in the Sheriff’s Department 16 years ago. He has voiced this desire repeatedly, even more so in the past 5 years. I have always known it would happen one day. I support my husband in this adventure and achieving his dream.

Kevin is the right man for the job. He has what it takes to better our community. Additionally, he has an amazing committee that consists of colleagues and community members that also support him in achieving this goal. We would not be where we are without them. Thank you all so much!

To Kevin - The boys and I are with you to the end! We love you!

Please take the time to get out and vote in the Republican Primary Election on June 22nd, as well as the November 2nd General Election. He is the right man for the job. His platform, Modern Ideas and Traditional Family Values, is more than a slogan, it is a way of life.
